Durham YMCA Day Camp

YMCA Campers become confident leaders

Durham Street Day Camps are located right in the heart of downtown Sudbury so they are accessible to just about everyone! The Durham Street location is ideal for Day Camps – with a pool that campers swim in every day, a full gymnasium, space for arts and crafts and Memorial Park just outside our doors. With all these great program options and staff who know how to make the most of them, your summer will be full of fun!

We believe that all children should experience the magic of day camp no matter their financial circumstance and there are payment options available for families during these difficult times. Please contact kendra.macisaac@ymcaneo.ca to learn more.

The YMCA’s CIT program is uniquely designed to set teens up for future summer jobs working with kids as a camp counsellor. This program is full of hands on experience and practical opportunities to learn. In the first week of the program, CITs will work together to develop key skills and knowledge necessary for working with others like teamwork, communication and leadership.

During the following three weeks, CITs will shadow counsellors and apply their skills with campers. They will move from observing and assisting to leading activities of their own. The best part is, all this time will be rewarded with volunteer hours for their work!

In addition to all the experience, CITs will have opportunities to participate in additional trainings like standard first aid, bronze medallion and more in order to improve their skills and build their resume.

For anyone who is interested in working with children, there is no better way to develop the skills, confidence and experience than the CIT program offers!
