Communications Inter – Summer Student

The Downtown Sudbury Business Improvement Area (BIA) is seeking an enthusiastic Communications Intern to join our team for the summer!

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to showcasing Downtown Sudbury as a premier destination for arts, culture, tourism, and hospitality. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a variety of communications functions, working alongside our Content Strategist to bring the energy and excitement of our downtown to life!

What you’ll be doing:

• Social Media: Developing engaging and creative content (text, photos, short videos) for our social media platforms to highlight downtown events, businesses, and attractions.
• News: Crafting compelling press releases to share exciting news and events with local media.
• Community Connector: Assisting with public communications initiatives and actively engaging with our community online and potentially in person.
• Content Curator: Collaborating with our Content Strategist to identify and collect content based on the week-to-week needs of Downtown Sudbury.
• Member Relations: Updating and maintaining membership information accuracy in our CRM system.
• Event Ambassador: Providing friendly and helpful customer support at Downtown Sudbury events.
• Marketing: Supporting the implementation of marketing strategies to promote Downtown Sudbury.
• Visual Storyteller: Creating visually appealing graphics and content based on our brand guidelines, with the guidance of our Content Strategist.

Who are we looking for?

You are a motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. You have a strong understanding of social media platforms and a creative eye for visual content. You are eager to learn, take initiative, and contribute to a positive and dynamic team environment. Bonus points if you have a passion for Downtown Sudbury and its unique offerings!

Eligibility Requirements (Mandatory for Summer Jobs Program):

To be eligible for these summer internship positions, you must:

• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the funded position (June 9th, 2025).
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
• Please note: International students and those here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for this program.

Details:

Position: Communications Intern
Duration: June 9th, 2025 to August 15th, 2025
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: In-person at 115 Larch Street, Sudbury, ON
