The Hilton Garden Inn is Sudbury’s brand new hotel destination featuring 120 guest rooms, Garden Grille Restaurant, Bar and Lounge, indoor salt-water pool, fitness centre and banquet facilities. The Hilton Garden Inn Sudbury is a full service focused hotel that offers breakfast and dinner service at our Garden Grille Restaurant, room service for hotel guests and full catering in our banquet and meeting rooms. We are located at Barrydowne Road and the Kingsway and ideally situated among a variety of shopping, theatres and restaurants.

We currently have full time Experienced Chef positions immediately available to applicants that have a passion for the kitchen and a desire to join a professional and exciting culinary team. If you have what it takes, we want to hear from you!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and stock food items and other necessary supplies.
  • Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces.
  • Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage.
  • Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces at the end of the shift.
  • Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must be passionate and have a broad knowledge in all aspects of the Kitchen
  • Basic communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Accuracy and speed in executing tasks
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Follows directions and instructions
  • Must be available to work weekends
  • Certification in food safety and sanitation a plus
  • Able to follow recipes and instructions, including making conversions
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and proper handling procedures
  • Able to work flexible shifts and schedules, inclusive of breakfast shifts, weekends and some holidays
  • Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • High energy and stamina. Able to work within a fast-paced, highly mobile, yet small space environment
  • Able to stand, kneel, bend, and walk for up to 8 hours per day
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform essential functions to company standards with reasonable accommodation

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three to Five years of experience as a Chef. Must be able to lead a team of experienced Cooks and Chefs.
  • Certificate in Culinary Arts preferred
  • Experience with various cooking methods and procedures
  • Familiar with industry best practices

Salary Rate: $18.00 to $22.00 per hour depending on experience, bonus paid every month based on how busy restaurant gets
