HOUSEKEEPER

This position would include house cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, meal prep, dinner preparation, daily household chores, evening child care transportation, and running various errands. A detailed job description to follow.

Job Description

Housecleaning: including sweeping/vacuuming/washing floors at leased twice weekly, cleaning bathrooms weekly, washing walls/windows monthly (or as needed), dusting weekly, tidying daily, bedmaking daily, changing bedsheet (including washing) weekly, cleaning all surfaces (ie/couches/counter tops) as needed assessed daily. During the summer months, outdoor deck space will also be maintained. Regular household chores and maintenance of appliances will be conducted regularly (ie/ Fridge, coffee machine)

Laundy: ongoing washing/drying/folding/putting away of all laundry on an ongoing basis, including bedsheets. Ironing as needed. All clothing with dry cleaning needs should be brought to dry cleaners and picked up as needed.

Grocery shopping: At leased twice weekly, an online list will be provided to Independent grocery pick up, it will be required to pick up groceries when they are ready and bring them home, put away as necessary. At times it may be necessary to go to the grocery store (or other ie/ costco or walmart) to pick up additional items as needed. As the housekeeper becomes more familiar with the family’s need, overtime the task of ordering online groceries and meal planning for the week may be delegated to the housekeeper.

Meal Prep: Each week a plan will be made for all food prep necessary for the week (ie/ fruit/veggie prep, lunch preparation, soup preparation, any parts of recipes needed for prep; such as pizza prep). Dinner will be prepared nightly Monday-Friday and any meal prep for weekend meals will be prepared. Flexibility will be requires, as occasionally the family will need weekend meals made, such as on special occasions or social gatherings. On these occasions work hours on the weekdays will be adjusted to ensure adequate time off.

Evening childcare: This task will be flexible and changing depending on family activities scheduled. For example, it may be required to drive children to various sporting events. It may be required to stay at home with other children, while parents attend children’s activities. It may also be required to babysit the children during the evening if the parents must work. If everyone is home, it may be required to assist with dinner/cleanup and bedtime. It will be expected if the housekeeper is home during the dinner hour that she will assist with making, serving and tidying up after dinner.

Household organization: It will be required to assist with ongoing household organization (ie/ summer clothes/winter clothes) and packing for holidays. From time to time assistance with more precise household organization/decorating (ie/ decorating for special events, holidays) will be required.

Requirements:

  • Clean Criminal Background Check in the Vulnerable Sector
  • Drivers Licence
  • Access to a reliable vehicle

Hours:

40 hours per week. Evening work will be from 5pm-8:30 Monday to Thursday. The remainder of the hours will be spent on the housekeeping portion of responsibilities and divided Monday-Friday. If household tasks are completed in a shorter time frame, it would be expected that additional tasks (such as regular maintenance) be completed to ensure all hours are worked. There may be times were flexibility is required to assist with weekend events (ie/food preparation and/or weekend babysitting). When this occurs changes to the schedule will be made to ensure adequate time off. These changes will be communicated well in advance and with the agreement of the housekeeper.

Salary Rate: $18.00 - $24.00 based on Experience
