Project Accountant

Milman Industries Inc. is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Project Accountant. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent attention to detail and is willing to take on a wide variety of tasks.

Responsibilities:

· Review project budgets, including staffing, work plans, and fee structures.

· Providing project managers and clients with timely financial reports and budgets, as well as project forecasts.

· Preparing, entering, and posting and recording of journal entries including various quarterly and year end accruals.

· Looking after project records and contracts to ensure terms are adhered to

· Reconciling monthly bank statements.

· Preparation of fixed asset schedules and recording fixed asset additions to maintain fixed assets ledger;

· Prepare monthly HST remittances and bank loan compliance;

· Managing cash balances, preparing deposits and recording cash receipts;

· Leading a system implementation as well as assisting in maintaining the accounting system.

Key Accountabilities:

· Prepare and analyze reports, including budget preparation, for the Vice- President and Divisional Managers;

· Perform variance analyses and drive correction actions;

· Be proactive in operational and profitability improvement opportunities;

· Ensure quality of all financial reporting for projects.

· Flexible and able to make independent decisions quickly;

· Ability to anticipate problems and proactively resolves situations before they become larger scale issues;

· Change management skills.

Qualifications:

· Four-year university degree in Business (accounting or related discipline);

· The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role

· Must be working on obtaining a CPA (CGA, CMA) professional accounting designation.

· Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel Skills;

· Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning software is considered an asset;

· Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises;

· Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgement, and use discretion in dealing with confidential information;

· Ability to develop, recommend, and implement new accounting business processes and internal controls;

· Excellent English verbal and written communication skills;

· Acceptable attendance and former employment history.
