We at Testmark have a summer vacancy at our Garson Lab for Computer Technician/Systems Administrator. Since its an entry-level opportunity, we are more than happy to train a candidate with IT background with the following JD:

General duties and responsibilities:

  • Act as a first contact for the IT group and help route requests to correct channels for IT and Instrumentation.
  • Configure PCs/Printers/Network Devices/Devices, setting up hardware and software; and documenting processes formally.
  • Maintaining and managing PCs/Printers/Network Devices/Devices, and documenting maintenance formally.
  • Ensure security systems are in place, and assist with privacy and data protection.
  • Perform upgrades to systems, testing of systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Providing frontline user support for email, standard software (not instrument software), and directing tickets.
  • Willingness to provide basic systems training to users as needed (e.g., this is how to log onto your email., etc.)


  • Certification or diploma is considered an advantage, but graduation not a present requirement. So, even a first year who is willing and able is welcome to try.
  • Hands on experience outside an academic setting is an asset, but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of computer and IT systems, internet security and data privacy is an asset, but not a requirement.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Critical-thinker and problem-solver.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, alone or as part of the team.
  • Highly proficient in English language for verbal and written documentation

Our facilities are all ISO 17025 certified with strict IT and confidentiality protocols constantly monitored by our internal systems. For this reason, the candidate must be a permanent resident or Canadian citizen.

Salary Rate: $18/hr
