Initial Reporting Location: Frobisher (CityWide)
Section: Roads Operations
Division: Linear Infrastructure Services
Department: Growth and Infrastructure

Duties: Under the supervision of a CityWide Superintendent, with the day-to-day direction of the Tree Warden:
1. Perform work as a Tree Pruner.
2. Oversee the work of the unit.
3. Trim, prune, brace, fell and remove trees in parks and on CGS streets.
4. Transplant and nurture trees.
5. Clear overhead electrical lines.
6. Spray trees with insecticides using sprayer.
7. Work in close proximity to energized lines and equipment and heavy traffic.
8. Write reports and keep records.
9. Ensure quality and quantity of work and the care and condition of tools, materials and equipment for work unit.
10. Clean up job sites of all debris, load large branches into truck and feed smaller branches into chipper machine.
11. Operate and drive a bucket truck.
12. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
13. Perform other related duties as required.

➢ Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
➢ Must be registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities as a Utility Aborist Journeyperson.
➢ Must have EUSA Certificate.
➢ Five (5) years of related experience in tree trimming and demonstrated skills in a supervisory role.
➢ Must be trained in Aerial Rescue.
➢ Must possess Chainsaw certification or preferably Cutter certification.
➢ Must be fully aware of job hazards and use appropriate safety equipment and procedures to protect self and others.
➢ Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
➢ Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
➢ May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid “DZ” driver’s licence and have an acceptable driving record.

Salary Rate: $33.22 per hour (Training Opportunity rate of pay is $31.55 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.)
