John Island Camp
Everyone should have the opportunity
to make endless summer camp memories.
Explorer Canoe Trip – Ages 13 to 15
This 9 day canoe trip in the rugged Northern Ontario is designed for young adventurists, future leadership participants, and Youth Campers who want a taste of something a bit different. The Explorer Canoe program allows participants to continue developing their back country skills and expand their knowledge of canoe tripping. Explorers have the opportunity to experience some of Northern Ontario’s most pristine landscapes while being supported in a tight knit, small-group environment.
The group spends the first few days at John Island, learning safety and paddling skills from their leaders. Campers are not required to have any prior experience. This program aims to challenge campers in expanding their wilderness tripping skills by meeting them where they are at in terms of these skills. Explorers will also have the opportunity to participate in some all-camp activities and traditional camp program areas such as high ropes and Evening Programs.
On trip, the Explorers will find themselves immersed in one of the many breathtaking routes that Northern Ontario has to offer. Days often finish sitting around the campfire or looking up at the starry summer sky. Participants will find themselves amazed by what they can do, especially with the support of their new friends! Explorer Canoe Trippers develop self-confidence and learn how to encourage others to do the same.
