Your YMCA is Open!

We can’t wait to see you. Fitness classes, the fitness centre and changerooms will be open in both branches. The pools, gymnasiums and courts will open August 3rd.  Additional information will be shared at a later date.

New Facility Hours Effective Monday, July 19th

The YMCA will be open from Monday-Friday 6:00am-1:30pm and 4:30pm-8:30pm and Saturdays 7:00am-11:00am. We will close each day from 1:30pm to 4:30pm in order to do a deep cleaning of our facilities as well as allow for our day campers to utilize the full facility as a cohort before reopening at 4:30pm. We are not open Sundays at this time.

Membership Payments

Members will not be charged membership fees until September, under a new membership model. Details will be shared soon! If you are interested in returning to your YMCA, please contact us to purchase a summer wellness pass for $75. This will allow you access to the YMCA until September 3rd. Summer wellness passes include access to the fitness centre and all fitness classes.

What to Expect

We are excited to welcome you back to your YMCA! The safety of our members, staff, volunteers and our community remains our top priority. We will have all safety protocols and measures in place so that you can enjoy your visit to the YMCA, safely.

Members are kindly asked to: 

  • Self-screen using the screening assessment approved by the Ministry of Health before arrival. Click here to view the self screening assessment. Upon arrival to the YMCA, we ask that members scan their card. When the card is scanned, members agree that they have passed the self-screening questionnaire. Members will also undergo a temperature check prior to entering the facility.
  • Upon arrival to the YMCA, please enter through the door marked “enter” and leave through “exit”. Please sanitize your hands when you enter the facility.
  • Members will not have to book their visit ahead of time. Room capacity limits will be posted on signs throughout the facility. Members are asked to please work with staff and volunteers to stay within those limits.
  • Registration is required for all fitness classes in order to monitor class sizes. Registration can be done online and are currently open for registration.
  • Please arrive ready to workout with a water bottle, towel and gym appropriate clothing. Changerooms will be available with limited locker availability and no water fountains will be available for use. Water bottle filling stations will be available.
  • Cleaning supplies will be available throughout all fitness areas. Please remember to wipe equipment down before and after each use. All fitness areas will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized regularly by YMCA staff and volunteers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our health and wellness facilities are open as of Monday, July 19th at 6:00am in both Sudbury and North Bay. This means access to the fitness floor, group fitness classes, and changerooms. The pools, gymnasiums and courts will open August 3rd. Additional information will be shared at a later date.

There is some training and re-certification to do with our aquatic staff that will occur over the next couple of weeks, as well as staff recruitment.

Yes, all members will undergo active screening upon arrival to the YMCA.

Yes, changerooms will be available. We ask that you only bring what you need to workout.

You need to book your spot when registering for a fitness class, however you will not need to book a time to use the fitness centre.

Yes, all members are required to wear masks when in public areas at the YMCA. You do not need to wear a mask to workout.

The YMCA of Northeastern Ontario is actively promoting, both internally and externally, the benefits of vaccines as a measure to keep people safe. Although we are not requiring vaccinations for participation, we have other controls in place to minimize risk based on best practices established during the pandemic.

Please note that we also have barriers at our membership desks, and seating areas have been adjusted in order to allow physical distancing.

Here are some things you can do to help:

  • Stay home if you’re not feeling well
  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Practice cough and sneeze etiquette
  • Always wipe equipment down before and after use
  • Avoid eating in situations where hand hygiene is more difficult (eg. while working out)
  • Please use cashless forms of payment whenever possible. Cash will still be accepted at the YMCA
  • Be kind to each other
