Youth Programs – Sudbury

The YMCA offers various programs to keep youth engaged in a safe space while making new friends, learning new skills and stay active.

These programs are a great way to develop the fundamental skills for any and all sports children might get into later in life. Our focus on developing physical literacy will help develop competent and confident athletes who love to be active! There are three themes to choose from:

  • Locomotions – themed All Sorts of Sports to read: explore different ways to move through challenges and play.
  • Implements – explore how to incorporate sports equipment into movement and games
  • Create – Get creative with movement and develop your very own active games

Dribble, bounce and shoot! Youth basketball will teach you the fundamentals of the sport, the rules and exercises to improve your game!

Come and explore the world of gymnastics with your little one. Tots can come in to try different activities and skills on floor, beam, bars and vault with the help of our team of coaches. Parent participation is required.

Keep your game sharp all through the summer. There is no better way to play Canada’s sport in the summer. Improve your skills, conditioning and have a blast playing floor hockey with us this summer!

One of the best all around activities to develop bodily awareness, strength and coordination! Gymnastics has all kinds of progressions to keep you coming back year after year on bars, floor, beams and vault.

Have fun, and get creative – maybe even a little messy too! With new projects to create and inspire each week everyone will leave with lots of crafts to be proud of.

Teens can take part in activities such as sports, gym games. and swimming. Open to members and non-members.

Members will start each week with drills to improve skill followed by a fun game to finish off the night!

Our Youth Conditioning Club is a series of active workshops that will have participants exercising and learning at the same time! Each workshop will ensure that participants learn how to move well in their bodies while gaining strength and endurance through exercise. The 45-minute class is followed by a free swim opportunity in our pool. Register for 1 workshop or join us every week this summer for the entire series!

Youth Drop In is a safe, fun and stimulating environment for parents to leave their children in the safe hands of our qualified and caring staff.
