Responsibilities
• Draft legal documents, including, but not limited to applications, briefs, motions, pleadings, affidavits, discovery, contracts, and domestic agreements
• Strategically counsel clients and potential clients on legal matters
• Identify legal or contractual issues and develop new approaches to resolve complex issues
• Perform legal research to determine how the facts of a case interact with current law
• Argue motions and attend other pre-trial court appearances before a judge
• Attend tribunal, court, or other adjudicated hearings
• Conduct extensive legal research
• Interview clients, witnesses, and other related parties to prepare legal documents
• Negotiate settlements of civil disputes
• Analyze the probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents
• Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases
• Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case
• Keep cases organized by establishing and organizing files, meeting deadlines, documenting actions, and inputting information into a file database
• Mail, fax, or email court documents to legal counsel, clients, witnesses, or court officials
• Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems
• Prepare bills and correspondence
• Docket time daily

Requirements
• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with exceptional academic credentials from an accredited law school
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Positive attitude and high level of professionalism
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion and good judgment
