Your support makes a difference for children, youth, families, adults, and seniors right here in your community.

For over 180 years, the YMCA has been a charity that has played a key role in supporting the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

We take our role seriously and live by our values of caring, honesty, inclusive, responsible, respect and collaboration.

Ways to Give

Donations can be done either online or in person at the YMCA. You can do a
one-time donation or support us longer-term with a recurring donation (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually). Monetary donations receive a
charitable tax receipt.

Securities can include stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, flow-through shares, and employee stock options. By donating publicly traded securities, you eliminate the capital gains tax that you would pay if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds. You will also receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation. Please contact Nicole Beattie at nicole.beattie@ymcaneo.ca to learn more.

To donate by bequest, your donation would be indicated in your will. This reduces the taxes payable on your estate. Please contact Nicole Beattie at nicole.beattie@ymcaneo.ca to learn more.

Naming Opportunities

Donors are recognized by a donor board placed in a central location at the YMCA. Please contact Nicole Beattie at nicole.beattie@ymcaneo.ca to learn more.

Donors may designate their gifts to specific areas or units within a YMCA eligible program, service, or facility. Dedicated areas will be identified by a plaque bearing the name of the donor(s) and/or the name(s) of those being honoured. Please contact Nicole Beattie at nicole.beattie@ymcaneo.ca to learn more.

Unique opportunities will be offered to donors at this level and higher. Specific recognition will be determined by the VP of Philanthropy and CEO. Please contact Nicole Beattie at nicole.beattie@ymcaneo.ca to learn more.

Y Stories

About three and a half years ago, Angela’s oldest son Tyler passed away unexpectedly.

The loss of her child was the hardest thing she’s ever been through. “The depression, anxiety and darkness was overwhelming at times.” Angela joined the YMCA a month after her son passed. She worked in health care and understood the importance of physical activity and the benefits it has on mental health. While her children were in swimming lessons, Angela took some time to focus on her physical and mental health in the fitness centre. Years later, Angela is thriving and finds joy in life.

“The Y saved my life. I’m a better person now, a better mom and a better wife.”

Supporting the YMCA means that more families like Angela’s can find a place to find themselves again after suffering a loss. Your support matters.

When COVID-19 hit, Josée’s workload increased significantly.

With limited resources, she had to balance becoming a teacher to her 6 year old daughter, work full-time, all while trying to understand the impact of the pandemic on her family. Returning back to work with no child care led to many situations of frustration and arguments as she and her daughter tried to navigate this new normal.

“I could honestly not have survived the summer months without YMCA Summer Day Camp. It allowed my daughter to be engaged, challenged with new experiences, meet new friends, and get that interpersonal interaction with peers of her age group that she had desperately been missing. I can’t thank the Y enough.”

Supporting the YMCA means that parents like Josée don’t need to worry about their children while they are at work. Your support matters.

The YMCA Helped Us All Face the Challenges of COVID-19

What We Did: We launched a free virtual physical activity resource called YGym in English and French. This meant that kids could get active with certified YMCA coaches from home.

What We Did: We started calling members to check in and make sure they had everything they needed, starting with our oldest and most vulnerable members.

What We Did: The North Bay YMCA became a temporary emergency shelter to be accessed by those in need and provided a place to shower, sleep and get access to resources they needed to get back on their feet.

What We Did: We launched YMCA at Home, a free virtual platform where anyone could access fitness, health and wellness videos.

What We Did: The Sudbury YMCA opened their doors and acted as a warming and cooling centre where computers, telephones and washrooms could be accessed for free.

What We Did: The YMCA offered YMCA Summer Day Camp, where kids could play, connect, and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment so parents could get back to work.

What We Did: We launched the Digital Inclusion, Social Connection and Opportunities Hub (DISCO) in partnership with The Village at Canadore College, where seniors could access technology for free and learn how to use them safely.
