Objective of this Role
Northern Law LLP has an exciting opportunity for a skilled law clerk or legal assistant with at least three years of experience in litigation and/or family law to fulfill the full-time role of Law Clerk. This role is a high level of responsibility in a fast-paced office setting. The best fit for this permanent position is a self-driven law clerk with proven experience performing legal research and providing legal reports to support lawyers. As an ideal candidate,
you have time-management and organization skills to help partners and associates with all procedures of family law practice and phases of the litigation process.

Responsibilities
• Draft and proofread legal documents, including, but not limited to applications, briefs, motions, pleadings, affidavits, contracts, and domestic agreements
• Prepare financial statements & Net Family Property (NFP) Statements
• Prepare orders for endorsement
• Interview clients, witnesses, and other related parties to help prepare legal documents
• Keep cases organized by establishing and organizing files, meeting deadlines, documenting actions, and inputting information into a file database
• Conduct extensive legal research
• Assist senior counsel in preparing for and attending tribunal, court, or other adjudicated hearings
• Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
• Mail, fax, or email court documents to legal counsel, clients, witnesses, or court officials
• Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems
• Coordinate and schedule appointments and meetings
• Draft bills and correspondence for partner review
• Docket time daily

Requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of practice management software and DivorceMate
• Positive attitude and professional appearance
• Excellent comprehension of the law
• Three years of work experience in a legal environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organized with strong research skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion and good judgement

Skills & Qualifications
• Understanding of legal language and principles, court pleadings and processes, research methods, and other related matters
• Working knowledge of the Family Law Rules, legal procedures, and other applicable Legislation
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Ability to prioritize workload and assignments
• Critical thinker who displays accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Client-focused
