Part-time hours: 16-40 per week
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Salary: $17.00 to $20.00 /hour
Education: AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (Preferred)
- Accountable to the home’s supervisor;
- Responsible to maintain licensing standards in the home;
- Responsible for implementation of program of the home including rules, routines and following Plan of Cares, Crisis Management Plans and Individual Intervention Plans;
- To build healthy relationships with all residents while providing care and guidance;
- To be committed to the safety, well-being and growth/progress of each resident;
- To ensure that goal setting is realistic and attainable while providing support, resources and encouragement;
- Responsible to act as a positive role model, child advocate, caregiver, teacher and lifeskills coach in all areas of a child’s life (home, school, community) for the purpose of teaching the resident: life skills, pro-social skills, healthy boundaries, building healthy relationships, communication skills, problem solving skills, hygiene skills, to help build self-esteem, assistance with school work and to ensure a variety of activities and leisure time (both in the home and in the community);
- To ensure that each child has the opportunity to attend the religious or spiritual service of their choice, unless otherwise instructed by the child’s guardian;
- To ensure that each child’s rights are respected and maintained, such as confidentiality (ex: family history, school history, case file, assessments);
- To attend and ensure that the residents’ medical, dental, optical, legal and counseling needs are met as needed and recorded;
- To attend appointments, meetings and/or conferences with the resident as needed (legal aid, probation, CAS);
- To complete all documents (logs), reports (incident reports) prior to the end of each shift;
- All incident reports must be completed prior to leaving a shift and must be handed in to the on-call worker as quickly as possible;
- To complete any reports as directed by the home’s supervisor;
- To use calming techniques, de-escalating techniques and crisis intervention techniques as needed;
- To utilize healthy and non-threatening discipline for natural and logical consequencing;
- Implement policies and procedures pertaining to quality of program and residents’ welfare;
- Minimum of monthly individual contact with all residents to inquire about needs, concerns, progress;
- Responsible for program documentation: reports and records as required and all information pertaining to residents’ binders;
- Responsible to follow Summit Human Services Sudbury’s code of conduct.
