School-Age Clubs

JK to 12 years

Children enrolled in our YMCA School-Age Clubs have the option of attending before and/or after school and on non-instructional days (PD Days, March Break, Holiday and Summer Club Camps).

YMCA School-Age Clubs focus on physical literacy and the early years framework (ELECT), which takes a hybrid approach and blends with YMCA’s Healthy Child Development and A Place to Connect™ curriculums. We believe our balanced model of programming puts the interest and developmental needs of children first. Being physically active in body, mind and spirit is crucial for life-long health.

Lead in partnership by an Early Childhood Educator and/or Physical Literacy/Recreation Specialist the program is designed to focus on the active components of physical literacy, overall well-being all within a licensed, caring and nurturing environment. YMCA School-Age Clubs follows the Ministry of Education’s Child Care & Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA).

At the YMCA your child will have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, make wonderful memories all while fostering:

  • Overall well-being
  • Physical competence
  • Positive social interactions
  • Self-reflection
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Planning and decision-making skills
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Resilience
  • Peaceful conflict resolution
  • Team building and learning new skills
  • Community involvement
